Constant photography of children — every milestone, every meal, every cute moment — mediates experience through the camera. Some moments are better lived directly. The photo serves social media or future memory; the moment serves the relationship.
What this might look like
First 5 minutes of any activity without phone. Specific times of day designated phone-free (bedtime routines, meals). Memorising moments instead of capturing them sometimes.
What changes
More present with children in moment. Less performative parenting (less staging for the photo). Better memory of details (paradoxically). Children less aware of being constantly photographed.
Take photos sometimes; not always. Most parents take 10x what they need; the photos accumulate without being looked at. The presence with children is what they remember.
