Why You Should Stop Comparing Yourself to Other Mothers

Comparison to other mothers — at school gate, on social media, in family conversations — is one of the most consistent drains on maternal wellbeing. The other mothers you compare yourself to are showing their best version; you have access to your worst moments.

The intervention

Curate inputs. Unfollow accounts that trigger comparison. Limit conversations with comparison-prone friends. Notice the comparison instinct and redirect to your specific child rather than abstract 'good mother'.

Notice over the next month: how often do you compare? Most mothers do dozens of times daily without awareness. Reducing the volume reduces the daily anxiety significantly.
